About the session

Musical Futures is an engaging approach to learning music in the school classroom.  Its purpose is to harness the enthusiasm students have for music out of school and bring that enthusiasm into to the classroom and make it available to every student.

Music Futures Australia will provide an overview and demonstration of Musical Futures:
·       Student Performance Footscray West Primary School and teachers Steve Sajkowsky and Maddie Owen
·       The classroom context and the approach utilising informal learning/non-formal teaching
·       A principal’s perspective - Brendan Millar, Footscray West Primary School
·       How Musical Futures links to curriculum - Helen Champion VCAA
·       Evaluated Outcomes from Musical Futures in Victoria - Assoc. Prof Dr. Neryl Jeanerette, The University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education
·       The rollout of Professional Learning across Victoria.
